A little bit about me:

My name is Emma Francisco and I just finished my second year of college at Cal Poly Humboldt! I am a studio art major and for this upcoming school year, I hope to focus more on advancing my abilities when it comes to clay and other art mediums.

I have been making ceramics for three years now. I find a lot of joy in working with clay so I intend to continue to do so as long as I am able to. My pieces are made of high fire ceramic materials and are mostly wheel thrown. I also like to include some hand built details or altered designs on the wheel thrown forms that I make.

Recently, I have been drawn to throwing pieces that are faceted and then stretched to form a one-of-a-kind pattern that can only be achieved in this way. Additionally, I have been adding rims that are split and altered to these thrown vessels. This is because I think there is an impressive dichotomy between these two techniques regarding the control that is necessary while making these forms.

At the end of the day, I hope to continue to make art and bring art into the lives of the community around me. I think that using creativity and sharing it with others can be so powerful and I want to keep working to make an impact on those who are interested.

Please feel free to reach out to me for any additional inquiries, commission ideas, and more. I am excited to get ideas or any other feedback so that I can make ceramic pieces for you to enjoy.
